Yuanmu Yang is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Precision Instrument at Tsinghua University. He received his B.Eng. degree in Optoelectronics from Tianjin University & Nankai University in 2011, and his Ph.D. degree in Interdisciplinary Materials Science from Vanderbilt University in 2015. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, USA from 2015 to 2017. He then worked at Intellectual Ventures, a Seattle-based startup incubator, from 2017 to 2018, and was a founding team member of metasurface-based solid-state lidar startup Lumotive. His research focuses on the field of meta-optics, has published more than 40 journal papers so far, including 2 Nature Photonics, 1 Nature Physics, with more than 5000 citations according to Google Scholar. He has been selected for the National Overseas High-Level Young Talent Program, and has received multiple awards and honors, including the “Jin Guofan Young Scholar Award” from the China Instrument Society and the “30 Under 30” (science category) from Forbes China.
